Q: What is Olathe?

A: Olathe, pronouncedquestions and answers, is the boot company that builds handcrafted all leather boots utilizing over a century of experience; a company that is big enough to serve you and small enough to want to. It's also the Shawnee Indian word for beautiful.

Since 1873, before the railroads arrived, custom boots were being made for the working cowboy in Olathe, Kansas. From legends of the Old West, like Wild Bill Hickok and Jesse James, to celebrities of today, as well as champion bronc rilders, Olathe has produced boots for a wide range of folks including our hero, the working cowboy. Known for their high quality leathers, exceptional fit and durability, boots from Olathe became popular with cowboys from Texas to Washington State.

Today, after more than 125 years, Olathe is still producing quality for cowboys. Here at Olathe Boot Company, we recognize the need of the everyday cowboy. If someone needs a piece of equipment for working and riding, we try to serve those needs with emphasis on quality combined with time-honored traditions of hand-lasted boots.

In 2001, production was moved to Mercedes, Texas where cowboy boots have been made for over 100 years. Olathe Boot Company uses only top quality material and as much hand work as possible. Quality will NEVER be sacrificed for quantity. Each pair is made with as much care as the first pair over a century ago.

The craftsmen employed at Olathe Boot Company represent, totally, hundreds of year's knowledge handed down over the last century. Their experience is unmatched in the industry and reflects the pride in product workmanship that has been latent but not dead.
